STEAM education project to be launched in local primary and middle schools
4 selected primary and middle schools in Pingshan District and Jisitang Education Information Consulting Co. Ltd. from Israel inked an agreement for a STEAM (abbreviation for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) education project recently. The construction of the STEAM lab is projected to be finished in 2017 and will offer select courses to Grade 7 students in those schools.
According to Jisitang, the STEAM project aims at enhancing students' ability to integrate knowledge scientifically, think creatively, analyze and solve problems critically, and cooperating with others smoothly. Developed countries and China’s special administrative regions -- Hong Kong and Macao -- already introduced similar projects years ago.
Pingshan Tongxin Foreign Language School, Pingshan Experimental School, Pingshan Zhongshan School and Biling Primary School have been chosen to pilot the STEAM project.
